Imagine that elderly people received tailor-made care and nutritional advice with the help of innovative technology?
Behavior scientists and data scientists from OnePlanet Research Center, nutritionists and SMEs are working together in the “INtoEAT” project to achieve just that! This integrated approach makes it possible to solve complex issues with a real eye for the needs of the end-users. Because the application is not just successful if the tech works.
Can it actually be used for the targeted audience? Is the advice understandable? Do people trust it? The applications must be user-friendly and it is important that healthcare providers can view relevant data for patients, taking into account the privacy and wishes of the user. What if we integrate technology and nutrition coaching into every-day products in elderly care facilities?
Together with Sander Hermsen (behavioral Scientist), Femke de Gooijer (project INtoEAT and smart tray) and Edgar Schwandt (INtoEAT: lifestyle app), we zoom further into the topics of eating, technology and behavior.
Sander explains some of the issues regarding the adaptation of technology and lifestyle changes. Femke introduces the INtoEAT smart tray! Edgar Schwandt gives us some more insights into how a targeted lifestyle app can help elderly in their preventive health issues and simultaneously shares his insights into how the collaboration is helping Salut to include tech solutions in their lifestyle supporting apps.
OnePlanet Research Center is a multidisciplinary collaboration between Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Radboud University, Radboudumc and nano-technology world-player imec.Three years into the collaboration, Director of Health, nutrition and behavior Thea van Kemenade, visits SMB to update us on their progress in the development of innovative tech for preventive health and their collaborations with SMEs in the region.
16:00 Short introduction by SMB
Thea van Kemenade (OnePlanet) on progress in the development of innovative tech for preventive health and their collaborations with
SMEs in the region
Sander Hermsen (OnePlanet) on motivational feedback for behavioral change
Femke de Gooijer (WUR) on INtoEAT: Smart tray

We learned that silk is not only used for clothes/lingerie and can be degradeable as well (luckily only when used for meshes!) and that sleep rejuvinates our body, but dreams rejuvinate our mind.

Publication presentations SMB meeting ‘Early stage funding for innovative startups’ and Innoboot 2017
It is commonly known that the Dutch Centre of Entrepreneurship (RVO) offers a large variety of loans and grants for innovative entrepreneurs. But most of us have trouble finding the right loan/grant and hesitate to actually submit an application. Elke van de Graaf gave a good insight of the most suitable instruments for innovative startups and offered inside information and multiple tips&trics on how to increase the success rate of your application. Her presentation is now available on our website, should you have missed the meeting or wish to look at the information again.
We would like to thank the two entrepreneurs, Artur Steffen (GoClinic) and David Uhlenbroich (eDolly), who took the time to inform us of their personal journey in entrepreneurship, their achievements, but also their challenges in securing sufficient funding to meet their goals and targets.
We finished off the meeting with drinks & bites and of course ample room for networking! Please click on this link to look back at the presentations of May 18, 2017 and for the publiation of the presentations from the two key note speakers of the Innoboot 2017 (April 11, 2017).
Slides from SMB meeting ‘Crossing borders; boost your health innovations!’ now available
We’re proud of yet another succesful SMB meeting that focused on crossing borders. The meeting was held on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at Novio Tech Campus in Nijmegen in close cooperation with our partners OostNV and Health Valley.
Did you know that OostNV can help boost your health innovation abroad through progams like Boost4Health and Interreg? And Health Valley has an extensive international network as well? All presentations are available on our website should you have missed the meeting or wish to look at the information again.
We would like to thank the two entrepreneurs, Laszlo Bax (Braingaze) and Ypke van Oosterhout (Xenikos), who took the time to share their international experiences (tips & trics, do’s and don’ts) with regards to venturing abroad. We would have never guessed it would take more than 5 months to open a bank account in a foreign country. Improvement is much needed here!

Braingaze; new start-up addition to Novio Tech Campus
Good news! From February 1, 2017 onwards Novio Tech Campus welcomes a new tenant: Braingaze.
Braingaze, founded in 2013, develops next-generation Mind Tracking Solutions that predict and identify personal behavior for clinical and commercial applications. The unique method of Braingaze (patented in 44 countries) is based on the predictive power of small eye movements as a marker for cognitive visual processing. They call this eye movement ‘Cognitive Vergence’. The Braingaze method is non-invasive, fast and robust, and does not require expensive hardware. As a first commercial application Braingaze has clinically validated a unique solution to more objectively diagnose ADHD in children.
Braingaze will present itself and its business case during the next SMB meeting on January 24, 2017 (Crossing Borders; Boost your Health innovation). For more information, click here.
