SMB-meeting Health & High Tech cross-overs

Date: November 4th, 2021
Registration: 15:30
Program:16:00-17:00
Networking/drinks/bites:17:00-18:00
Location: Novio Tech Campus Nijmegen, building M, Meet&Greet area (Directions)

Nijmegen is the city of healthcare and High Tech. In many cases these are quite separate worlds. Healthcare is about care, drugs discovery, medical devices etc. and High Tech in Nijmegen is about chip production for sectors like automotive.

But there certainly is also an important cross-over between these sectors where technologies from the semiconductor industry are used in healthcare. For example in lab-on-a-chip  and organs-on-a-chip development, diagnostics through photonics and hyperthermia treatment trough radio frequencies.

In this SMB meeting we have rounded up a group of companies and researchers who address precisely these types of cross-overs.

Program
Hans van Bokhoven from Radboudumc will talk about the development of organs-on-a-chip that will influence treatment options and drug development.

Klaus Werner from PinkRF will talk about the potential of RF technologies in the treatment of cancer through hyperthermia.

Waander van Heerde from Enzyre will talk about their development to determine blood clotting factors with lab-on-a-chip technology.

And Peter Harmsma from Delta Diagnostics will explain how they use photonics for health diagnostics.

Hybrid event
We expect the RIVM guidelines will allow us to host a physical meeting at Novio Tech Campus in Nijmegen with networking/drinks/snacks afterwards. The event will be streamed online as well.

SMB-meeting Supporting startups to create a significant impact

Date: May 20th, 2021
Time: 16:00-17:00 + online networking
Location: Online

Nijmegen has a strong position in research with Radboudumc, Radboud University and some large research departments of High Tech (semiconductor) companies. In total almost 10.000 researchers work on future solutions in Nijmegen. But of course, research alone is not enough to create a signicant impact on society. For this also entrepreneurship is of paramount importance.

At Novio Tech Campus, Radboudumc and Mercator Science Park many young and vibrant startups in digital health, high tech and pharma are successfully growing their business and company. Some of whom are supported by Briskr, Mercator Launch, Startup Nijmegen and other initaitives.

At the SMB meeting of 20th May we will present the current status and future plans to stimulate entrepreneurship in the region in Health & High Tech;

Mark Janssen, member of the board of Radboudumc, will stress the importance of entrepreneurship (next to research) to create a significant impact on healthcare.
Sven de Cleyn, managing director of imec.istart will elaborate on their plans to bring their acceleration program to our region.
Joram Sjoerts, director of Radboudumc Valorisation, will give a presentation on how Radboudumc, with the help of the valorisation department, stimulates researchers to start up companies and bring the research to the market.
– And last but not least, two existing startups related to Radboudumc (Screenpoint Medical and Xheal Diagnostics) will share their experience as entrepreneurs to create a startup in the Nijmegen ecosystem.

Presentations are in English and the entrance is free. We welcome new guests, so please feel free to pass on this invitation to relevant people in your network!

We look forward to meeting you!

Science Meets Business / OnePlanet; High Tech in healthcare

Date: March 4th, 2021
Time: 16:00-17:00 hrs (+online networking)
Location: Online

The role of technology in healthcare and preventive health is increasing at a rapid pace. Medtech, eHealth and remote care all had an accelerated adoption rate in the last year, partly due to the covid-19 pandemic.

This leads to all kinds of new opportunities for the development of new technologies in health. One of the interesting areas here is the use of sensor technology combined with data capture and analysis to diagnose, monitor and even predict the health of patients.

For our region, the start of OnePlanet Research Center leads to new opportunities in this area. OnePlanet (a multidisciplinary collaboration between the Radboud University, Radboud UMC, Wageningen University & Research and imec) will provide a boost in the development of new sensing and digital technologies and their adaptation in the clinical practice.

During this meeting examples of innovations as well as the future plans of the OnePlanet consortium in relation to the regional health ecosystem will be addressed;

– Future plans of OnePlanet in our region by Chris van Hoof (MD OnePlanet);
– Two entrepreneurs explaining the added value from joint projects;
1. Martijn Vastenburg (ConnectedCare)
2. Hans Niendieker (Ivido)
– The importance of this cooperation by Harry van Goor (prof. Radboudumc)
